This Walthamstow garden was crying out for attention. Overgrown buddleia shrubs, patchy grass, and poor ground conditions had turned what should have been a welcoming outdoor space into something cramped, untidy, and unusable. Our clients knew something had to change – they wanted a garden they could actually enjoy.
The Challenge
The upper garden section presented significant obstacles:
- Dense, invasive buddleia shrubs dominating the space
- Deteriorated, patchy grass areas
- Limited space requiring careful layout planning
- Poor ground conditions from years of neglect
- No clear functional zones or structure
Our Approach
Complete Clearing & Preparation
We started from scratch, removing all overgrown vegetation and deteriorated grass. This wasn't just tidying up – it was establishing a clean, solid foundation for the new design. Every square metre was cleared and assessed, allowing us to work with good ground conditions for what came next.
Premium Hardscaping
We installed premium Aldridge Clay Pavers from London Stone throughout the space, creating durable, attractive pathways and structural elements. These aren't ordinary pavers – they're high-quality materials built to last decades while aging beautifully. The warm tones of the clay create an inviting aesthetic that complements both contemporary and traditional gardens.
Architectural Planting Design
We partnered with Lucy from Out Front Designs to develop a thoughtful planting scheme. Rather than random plantings, every plant was selected for its seasonal performance, visual interest, and ability to thrive in the space. Organized beds with proper structure replaced the chaotic overgrowth.
The Transformation
What emerged was a completely transformed garden – vibrant, welcoming, and genuinely usable. The clay pavers create clear pathways and defined zones, while the carefully planned planting adds colour and texture throughout the seasons. The clients now have a space they're proud to enjoy, whether entertaining friends or simply relaxing outdoors.
This project proves that even the most neglected garden can be restored to its full potential with proper planning, quality materials, and expert execution.
