Common Questions
How accurate is the project estimator?
It gives a realistic range, not a fixed price. We price your answers with the same materials costs and labour rates we use to quote real jobs, add an allowance for the unknowns you can only find on site, and show a range around the result. What decides the final number is what we find on site: ground conditions, levels, access and the exact specification. A free site visit turns the range into a fixed written quote.
Why do you show a wide guide before asking for my details?
So you know straight away whether a project like yours is in the right ballpark, with no strings. If it is, add your details and we narrow it to a tighter range, emailed to you. If it is well outside what you had in mind, you have lost nothing and we have not taken up your time.
Can I get one price for several jobs?
Yes. Pick as many of fencing, patio, decking and pergola as you like and answer a few questions for each. You get a single combined range for the whole project.
Is the estimate inc or ex VAT?
Both are shown, and you can switch between them on the result screen.
Why do you ask for my email before showing the price?
So we can send you a copy of the estimate and follow up if you want a proper quote. We only use your details to respond to your enquiry. We never share them, and you are under no obligation to book anything.
What is included in the estimate?
Supply and installation of what you listed, including taking away an old fence or old decking if you said it needs to come out, and disposing of excavated soil under a patio. It does not cover gates, steps, balustrades, lighting, drainage, or groundwork beyond the standard preparation. Anything like that is picked up and priced at the site visit.
What if my project is a garden room or a full garden redesign?
Garden rooms have their own dedicated calculator, linked at the start of the estimator. For larger or mixed projects, tick "Something else as well" and tell us what is involved. A full redesign is priced after we have seen the space, so we will follow up personally on that part.
